The most entertaining form of the game unleashes its World Cup this Friday. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the early exchanges and while India are firm favourites, whether they can reproduce their subcontinent form on British soil is open to question.

Another aspect to this World Cup is whether or not the teams who stick mainly to their test/one-day side will out-do those who have chosen to bring in specialist players. England have never routinely decided to maintain a somewhat consistent national squad and with their inclusion of the likes of James Foster, Graham Napier and Eoin Morgan ahead of proven international cricketers, it'll be interesting to see how they go. Mind you the last time England won a one-day trophy it was with Adam Hollioake at the helm of a bunch of specialist all-rounders.

Premier Cricketer's big hope is that we don't get too many one-sided matches. 20/20 even at international level is capable of producing some stinking matches due to the very nature of the gung-ho mentality, so lets hope there's plenty of last ball matches and maybe even a Super Over decider.

Hunts County have re-styled their cricket batting gloves and pads for the 2009 season. They have introduced up to date colours and have continued to progress the multi-section designs on their batting gloves for a modern look.

The new top end cricket batting glove the Triumph combines traditional sausage style fingers with additional flex points and reinforced inserts to the lead fingers to deliver modern protection levels and colours with a more conventional feel. The Glory batting glove meanwhile, has a flexible multi section construction with additional reinforced protection for a more contemporary design. Both gloves have side protection, air flow systems and a soft towelling inner lining.

The new Triumph batting legguards have a modern look to them using high density foam with fibre inserts for the protection. They have been uniquely shaped for a perfect fit and have a contoured dual density foam inner with mesh panels for breathability. The design is ambidextrous to be suitable for both right and left handed batsmen, making it ideal for clubs too. The Glory batting pads are a traditional design with cane rods and rounded High Density foam. They are fitted with an internal knee protection cap and inner bolsters with mesh panels for comfort. The glory is also an ambidextrous design.

Their popular Steelback design batting gloves and pads have been kept for 2009 and these offer sizes from Small Boy’s up to Large Men’s.

The full Hunts County range can be found at leading cricket equipment retailers.

I'm back!

Posted by Dick | 13:19 | 0 comments »

Here's the crack. Two years ago I took a knock to the knackers in net practice which resulted in an op and then just when I thought a comeback was on the cards I managed to get myself a new job that meant working 99% of Saturdays. Result? Cricket knocked on the head - and boy have I missed it! Not just playing the game and keeping a decent semblance of fitness, but the banter with the lads and the couple of pints (often gallons) after the game.

This blog will entertain and inform you with the following:

1) My return to the great game

2) All things North East Premier League

3) Opinions on the County and International stage

4) New equipment updates from all the leading manufacturers

So keep checking back or subscribe to my feed, either way I'm sure you'll enjoy the blog.
